Tonal adjustments of delay sound are indispensable for handling various musical phrases. The FF-1Y has a dedicated 3-band equalizer for delay sound. (This function works best when used in Stereo mode.) This creates an unprecedented effect in which a fluctuating spacious sound seems to float in the air. However in our 'FUTURE FACTORY', we succeeded in creating a new modulation sound with a unique method in which the signal's phase changes at random when the signal crosses a certain attenuation level. In general, the phase of a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) used in these modulation circuits changes regularly at a preset cycle. Many digital delay units that implement a modulation function have been introduced to date. Thought I'd put it out there to see peoples thoughts, see if anyone has owned one or the other or both in there time, personal preferences etc.'Creation of a new sound' - this was the motto for the development of Free The Tone FF-1Y Future Factory. I'm currently straying away from the other 'big box' style delays (Timeline, Timefactor, Echosystem etc) as generally I prefer pedals with distinct characteristics and a few amazing sounds rather than a jack of all trades.

I'm in Australia, so the Volante is about $150-200 more expensive new than the FTT Future Factory. So I've currently narrowed it down to either a Strymon Volante or Free the Tone Future Factory as possible contenders. I'm also considering buying a proper tape delay down the track, likely an EchoFix EF-X2 I'm thinking of buying a dedicated reverb pedal in the near future, possibly the CXM 1978 or Free the Tone Ambi-space, so reverb included in the pedal is neither hear nor there. The idea is to use the Memory Lane 2 for the bread and butter delays, but have the awesome edge style stereo ping pong delays or long Gilmour-esk solo delays for special occasions. Things I'm looking for out of them are a really good stereo multi-tap or dual delay unit with plenty of versatility, but also a distinctive character/flavor. Right now I'm running Wet Dry with a Dr Z Route 66 and Vox AC30HWX, but am planning to add a stereo delay and reverb to the mix.

I currently have a wide selection of modulation and gain, and my other delay is a Diamond Memory Lane 2.
